Ceramic Coating Aftercare Checklist

A simple routine for looking after a coated car in Bourne, Peterborough and surrounding areas. Follow the specific care instructions supplied with your coating first; products and curing requirements vary.

See the checklist

Before the first wash

Ask your installer when the car can first be washed and whether rain, chemicals or other contact should be avoided while the coating cures. The answer depends on the coating and installation conditions.

Your regular wash routine

Gtechniq’s coated-car washing guide also recommends pre-washing and suitable cleaning products. Always follow the guidance for the coating actually installed.

When something needs attention

Bird droppings or tree sap

Remove contamination promptly with a suitable product and gentle technique. Avoid rubbing dry deposits into the finish.

Water behaviour has changed

A coating may be masked by road film or mineral deposits. Ask for a safe maintenance wash or inspection before assuming it has failed.

Thinking of a strong cleaner or polish?

Check compatibility with your installer first. Abrasive polishing can remove or alter a coating.

Need help maintaining the finish?

Tell us the coating used, when it was applied and how the car has been washed. We can suggest a suitable next step.

A ceramic coating helps with cleaning and protection, but it does not make paint scratch-proof or remove the need for washing.
